This is the story of how Samuel was born
Hannah a women of deep sorrow wept bitterly because she was unable to have children.
Seeing her, fervent prayers, Eli, the priest, thought she was drunk and scolded her.
Hannah replied, “I am not drunk. I am pouring out my soul to the lord. If he gives me a son, I will dedicate him to the Lord all the days of his life.”
So Eli blessed her saying, “Go in peace and may the god grant you what you have asked of him.”
The Lord remembered Hannah and she gave birth to a son naming him Samuel meaning God has heard.
When Samuel was weaned, Hannah took him to the temple fulfilling her vow to dedicate him to the Lord. Hannah said, “I prayed for this child and the Lord granted my request. Now I give him to the Lord for his whole life.
Samuel grew up in the presence of the Lord serving faithfully in the temple under Eli’s guidance.
