This is the story of the Ark of the Covenant
The Ark of the Covenant, the sacred chest containing the tablets of the 10 commandments was captured by the Philistines which brought despair to Israel.
However, the Philistines faced plagues and calamities as the Ark brought trouble to every city it was taken to. And their idols fell before it.
So the Philistines leaders decided to return the Ark with 2 cows hoping to end their suffering.
The people of Beit Shemesh were overjoyed when they saw the Ark returning on the cart they took.
They took the cows and offered them as a burnt offering to the Lord celebrating the Ark’s return with great joy.
The Ark was then taken to the house of Abinadab in Kiriath-jearim where it remained for many years and his som Elizar was consecrated to guard it.
During this time, Samuel led the people in repentance and worship of the Lord, led to a mighty victory over the Philistines.
